Clana

Jané Clana (b. 1997, South Africa) is a multidisciplinary artist working primarily in acrylic and oil paint. Raised in Mpumalanga, Clana was introduced to painting by their late grandmother, after whom they are named. Their work explores themes of identity, memory, and belonging, often juxtaposing domestic and natural spaces to create imagined landscapes of comfort and self-reflection. Their paintings are deeply personal, drawing from childhood memories, queer identity, and the search for spaces where one can feel truly at ease. Clana has exhibited in various group and duo exhibitions, including Everything is Romantic, a collaborative show with Neil Badenhorst. Their work is collected both locally and internationally. In addition to their studio practice, Clana has a background in design and is passionate about visual storytelling across multiple disciplines
