Jane Eppel
Jane Eppel is a South African artist based on the Cape Peninsula, whose work is inspired by the region’s rich natural environment. She was born in Cape Town in 1979 and received a BA in Fine Art, majoring in printmaking, from the Michaelis School of Fine Art at UCT in 2001. Her practice explores themes of transformation and renewal through painting and printmaking. Recent work includes multi-plate insect etchings arranged into mandala forms, referencing metamorphosis and Jungian ideas of psychic unity. Since 2010, she has focused on intaglio etching. Eppel has held solo exhibitions at the Irma Stern Museum, Bell Roberts Gallery, and the South African Print Gallery. She lives in Kommetjie with her family.
